Online virtual games

Do you agree that our kids should be steered away from Facebook or Myspace? At my elder daughter age, I wouldn't even want her to have her own email account.Actually the Internet can be a wonderful resource for kids. They can use it to research school reports, look up words using the online Dictionary.Kids who are old enough to type a few letters on the keyboard can literally access the world.Belinda(my younger daughter) is one them.

It was kinda surprise to me when I got the newsletter from the school today. My elder daughter's school are encouraging the students and teachers in grade 3-6 to participate in a virtual online word travel adventure game and wants them to be physically active playing the game.

What is Wemuv?Wemuv is a new virtual world and social network for children that provides an educational online gaming experience. It is developed in partneship with physical and health education canada and the WEMUV inc .The most unique about the Wemuv school challenge program involves the interface between the website(www.wemuv.com)and the specially encrypted pedometer that tracks a child's physical activity steps. The activity will be recorded by the pedometer as steps will act the currency for the world travel. The game content is designed to educate the children on general topics including world geography, culture, earth science and social studies.Isn't this cool?

There are some really great sites for kids under twelve. Here are my favourite sites which my daughters is playing
.

Club Penguin - A virtual town, play games or chat with others. Games and chatting are free, but if you want to own a pet,buy clothing or decorate your igloo, then you'll need to buy a membership.

Buildaville-A free to play virtual town. You can buy plush toys and animals in Build-A-Bear Workshop play games and adventures to earn Bear Bills to decorate the bear house, buy clothing and many more.

Poptropica- A multiplayer online game and virtual world in which children can travel, play games, compete competition, and complete "island missions".

They are many more online virtual games that are suitable for young kids. It's also important to be aware of what your kids play on the Internet, who they meet, and what they share about themselves online.Just like any safety issue,it's wise to keep a close eye on their activities.

Can't live without internet

Oh!! It's an awful day for me for the past few days!I'm sorry for the lack of updates and for not able to reply back to comments left on my blog.I had a problem with Internet connection since a few days ago.I don't understand why the technician took so long to come and fix the problem.I felt frustrated because I kept bugging the customer service to send the technician over to active my connection back.As you know I was really freak out whenever I am unable to access my computer. Not even that,I also unable to watch TV as well.

The technician told me that someone use my main cable to connect to their house cable.Yes,It's my neighbour!I really don't understand why!If I got a chance to see her I will definitely ask her whether she did ask someone to fix her house cable. The technician told me that only the qualify technician can go inside the cable room to touch the cable.Hmm!really weird!I don't seem to have problem with her and I also wonder whether she could watch the TV program using my cable.

Since I can't access the Internet and watch TV these few days,my kids and I felt like the end of the world. If you want me to choose between TV and Internet,I will choose Internet. Why?because without Internet I can't pay bills, listen to music, play games and watch live TV movie(it's free OK!)Yes it was boring and I don't know what I am doing if it was lasted for more days I am sure I will crying for being bored.Anyhow,I am glad they finally fixed it yesterday.

Oh!tomorrow is earth day.I wonder what people what people going to do on Earth Day?I don't really do anything extraordinary on Earth Day. But,my kids has to wear green colour clothes to school tomorrow.

Take a bite out of granville island farmer market

Granville Island is a fresh market district in a small island of vancouver. The last time I went to this place was 2 year ago. I love the place so much.I remember for the first time in a while we spent the day focused on the outdoor only because it was a public holiday. We didn't have a chance to get into the market to explore. So we decided to go there again. We went there with our friends. The first thing captured my eyes are the desserts. It is the best place for snacks and desserts.

If you want fresh salmon 12 months a year come here and get some home.

Great spots for cheese lover!

Fruit stall is a top attraction and a favorite of tourist.I love the way the fruits are displayed.

Throwing Bagels

I guess this is the most interesting part in the market.I love this location inside Granville Island Market. They have a variety of bagels for you to pick from,I would recommend their Blueberry Bagels.

I love their pastries, I wish I could know their names so that I could share with you.Don't you think it's great to have a freshly baked bagel to eat in the morning with a cup of coffee?Oh no!I bought so much tasty food in the market.Need to diet for a week :)
